Coming in contact with the world around me opened up myriad possibilities of suggestion, perception and opportunity. I recall the many failed attempts at trying to define the indefinable, be it the air you breathe or the zest in me to explore my world of being and becoming.
After completing my studies in business and administration in India I went on to pursue a career within this field. But every night before I hit the sack a million questions probed through my mind. My thoughts were overwhelmed by images of paintings and photographs, of the things I had seen and of those I hadn’t. There was an unrestrained urge in me to know more about the arts. One fine day, I discovered photography, and I found my answers behind the camera. I left my day job and became a photographer.
I was and am still drawn to the art of capturing the para physical thoughts and feelings of emotion, expression and the things that deluge and progress human thought while portraying the wandering human psychology that passes by us unseen. My career behind the lens began as a rock photographer. Capturing the self contained righteousness and energy behind the music led to self taught methods of doing high contrastive high-energy shots.
I began to get more and more involved with the independent music scene within India. I travelled around India from gig to gig and witnessed this surge of young energy transforming itself into rock music. The gypsy in me took over and pushed me to explore my country where I met some very genuine people and I found the single shot subjects for my portraits and began a collection of portraits of the really real people from around India.
The limitlessness of photography has always charmed me and apart from rock photography and portraits, the more unconventional style of contemporary photography also whet my creativity. And my personal work now delves more and more into experimental and abstract nudes and other forms and styles of experimental photography.
If I detach the material world of tags and labels, the truth is, the more I capture the happier I am. And now after endlessly trying my hands on natural shooting I am now looking forward to unfold the serene beauty of feminism and the female through the interbred world of art, fashion and style.
